Instructional Strategies for Managing Cross- Curriculum Based Centers will introduce participants to the purpose, management, assessment and planning of cross-curriculum activities for learning centers in the preschool classroom.

Understanding Trauma; its Impact on Children and Strategies for Healing - 3hrs 

This training will define Trauma, the four major categories of trauma 'Acute, Chronic, Complex , Historical and Racial" and the types of trauma represented in each category. Participants will learn what are Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and how these experiences affect children cognitively, socially and emotionally and how it can impact children's health over a  lifetime. Participants will learn and participate in interactive strategies that assist children in overcoming trauma and moving towards a pathway to healing. 

What is Post Traumatic Syndrome?

PTSD is an anxiety disorder that some people get after seeing or living through a dangerous  event. When in danger, it's natural to feel afraid. This fear triggers many spilt-second changes in the body to prepare to defend against the danger or to avoid it. This "fight-or-fight" response is a healthy reaction meant to protect a person from harm. But in PTSD, this reaction is changed or damaged. people who have PTSD may feel stressed or frightened even when they're no longer in danger 

Instructional Strategies Managing Cross- Curriculum Based Learning Centers - 2hrs

Reducing Challenge Behaviors in the Classroom - 3hrs

This course will provide participants with strategies for working with and addressing children with challenging  behaviors in the classroom. Participant will learn the Five Core Competencies of Social-Emotional Development that help to build the social emotional development of children: Self awareness, Self-management, Social awareness, Relationship skills and Participants will learn how to assess their environments and build classroom environment that encourage positive behavior. Participants will learn why assessing children is an important part of addressing challenging behaviors. Finally connection supports positive behavior in the classroom.

Class observation Conducted by a Certified Class Assessor

Training for staff can be provided in understanding the components of CLASS Assessment and what it entails. Systems can provide a Certified CLASS observation. CLASS stands for Classroom Assessment Scoring System. CLASS is a research-based method of measuring, evaluating, and improving teacher-student interactions. CLASS enables high quality interactions which lead to improved academic and social-emotional outcomes for students. The interactions teacher have with children impact learning, development-Even lifelong achievement.

Linking Literacy to Everyday Science Concepts - 3hrs

Linking Literacy to Everyday Science Concepts focuses on exploring and connecting various types of children's literature to science using the 5-E Model of inquiry and instruction: Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend/Elaborate and Evaluate . Participants will learn scientific text/concepts and vocabulary through the lens of literacy and the three types of literacy text: Imaginative, information and Persuasive Through interactive activities, participants will see and explore how science and literacy connect in children's literature inclusive of books, poems, recipes, advertisements, informational tex, fiction, and more.
